Mason County Courthouse
On February 4, 2021, an arsonist set fire to a residence in Mason County, Texas. While the volunteer firefighters were distracted tending to the fire in this town of 2,000 residents, the arsonist set fire to his true target for the night, the beautiful, then 111-year-old Mason County courthouse. The courthouse was gutted by this devastating fire. The arsonist was later captured, charged, found guilty of the crimes and sentenced to 75 years in prison.
The loss of the courthouse was devastating to the residents of this county of about 4,000. But the county commissioner’s got busy planning the reconstruction of the building.
I had made a quick trip to visit Palo Duro Canyon and Caprock Canyon State Parks in September, 2024 to make some videos, etc., and decided to stop at the courthouse on my way through Mason to see how the reconstruction was coming along. To my surprise, I found that the construction was completed in July and the building was occupied and open for business. I requested permission to create a 360 virtual tour of the new building.

I thought it appropriate to add some two-stepping to music to this one. Enjoy.
